Lamorna is a new sustainable dwelling replacing an old guest house. The site has views towards St Agnes beacon and down to St Ives bay.
The brief was to provide for a family house with annex accommodation within a contemporary and minimal character. The site is sloping so the opportunity was taken to layer the composition with intersecting boxes and complimenting natural materials. The result is a sleek and light contemporary home, that sits sensitively within the landscape whilst commanding a prominent location and view.
The use of local, natural materials and highest quality detailing creates a home which sits comfortably in the natural landscape without compromising the contemporary form.
Sustainable features including high levels of natural insulation, modular timber frame system, brown roof construction, heat recovery, wood burning stove and re-harvested rainwater system. The priority for the build was for the refinement of detailing, air tightness and robustness of construction.
